Leaving a legacy
in your will

Thank you for taking one small step now to change the future of Etania’s children.

Our children.

A deep breath of fresh air. A child’s laughter echoing through mountains. A parent’s relief as their child finally begins to flourish. This is life, sweet, healthy and exhilarating, and made possible for children from all over the world, thanks to the wonderful people who leave a gift for Chaim V Shalvah in their wills.

Everything you need to know

What can my gift achieve?

A gift in your will could transform the lives of children and families. It will bring hope and healing to people all over the world. A gift in your will can help make this a reality.

What kind of gift could I give to Chaim V'Shalvah in my will?

After ensuring that your family and loved ones are taken care of, a gift of any size or type can be given to Chaim V’Shalvah – and is so appreciated.

You could leave Chaim V’Shalvah a gift in your will in the following ways:

  1. A share of your estate – This is a percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.
  2. A specific sum – This is a gift of a set amount of money.
  3. A specific item – This could be any item of value, such as an antique, property or shares that we would sell.

All you need is to provide your solicitor or will writer with our registered address and charity number and tell them what you want to do, and they will be able do the rest. It’s simple. All you need is:

Our address:
Chaim V Shalvah - Etania
5 Rostrevor Avenue
London N16 6LA

and our legal name:
Chaim V’Shalvah (UK Registered Charity No 1180676)

If you already have a will you can easily add a gift to Chaim V’Shalvah by making a codicil, without rewriting your whole will. Just tell your lawyer what you want to do, and they will be able do the rest.

What is suitable wording?

Your will-writer or solicitor may find it helpful to use one of the following sample wordings:

  • A share of your estate:
“I give the whole [or ______%] of my residuary estate not otherwise disposed of by this Will to Chaim V’Shalvah (UK registered charity number 1180676 of 5 Rostrevor Avenue, London N16 6LA for the general purposes of the charity.”
  • A specific sum of money:
“I give a legacy of £_______ free of tax to Chaim V’Shalvah (UK Registered Charity Number 1180676) of 5 Rostrevor Avenue, London N16 6LA for the general purposes of the charity.”
  • An item:
“I give a [describe the item – for example property address, shares in named company or other item] free of tax to Chaim V’Shalvah (UK Registered Charity Number 1180676) of 5 Rostrevor Avenue, London N16 6LA for the general purposes of the charity.”

How does Inheritance Tax apply here?

Currently, if you leave a gift to Chaim V’Shalvah in your will, the value of your gift will be deducted from your estate before Inheritance Tax is applied. If you leave more than 10% of your estate to Chaim V’Shalvah the rate of tax on the rest of your estate is reduced from 40% to 36%.
